BBQ Favorites For A Crowd
Great ideas for a BBQ party they'll talk about all summer Saturday, June 02, 2018
Planning a BBQ party for a summer dinner party can be a lot of fun. With a little planning you can host a BBQ party that will get rave reviews. Try these BBQ themes and menus for a sure hit.
Texas Style BBQ Favorites
For an authentic Texan BBQ party, you need to serve Texas brisket with all the trimmings. Make sure you have plenty of white bread, baked beans, potato salad, macaroni and cheese, and sweet iced tea to go along with it. Dessert should be a thick cobbler, which you can also do over the coals in a Dutch oven.
For decorations, use a red checked tablecloth on the tables and hang a Texas flag somewhere. Hand out bandanas for all your guests to wear and make sure the chef wears a sheriff's badge and vest. Play country music in the background.
How About A Hawaiian Luau?
The Hawaiians BBQ a little differently, but you can plan a great luau and wow your guests. You can serve Hawaiian Grilled Chicken (recipe below) along with coconut fried rice or Hawaiian bread. Serve pineapple upside down cake for dessert.
Hawaiian Grilled Chicken
1/2 cup soy sauce 1 tablespoon of garlic, minced 1 tablespoon of ginger, minced lemon juice Crushed chili pepper 1/2 teaspoon brown sugar
Combine the marinade ingredients in a saucepan and simmer until the sugar dissolves. Cool and use to marinate the chicken over night. Grill the chicken over medium heat until it's thoroughly cooked. Serve with grilled fresh pineapple slices.
Decorate with tiki torches all around the dining area and drape grass skirting around the bottoms of tables and attach to deck rails. Present all of your guests with leis. You can purchase inexpensive silk leis at Oriental Trading Company, as well as disposable plates and tableware with a tropical theme.
Play a Hawaiian guitar CD in the background and you're set for a great BBQ evening!
